11/17/09  Yes!  We have two new brooms and an air pump thanks to Chip.  Chip has been helping out on Tuesday and Thursdays and I think he is quickly becoming a favorite with the ladies.  Good job Melissa for holding out to teach this far into the winter with your bronchitis issues - -you go girl!  Incrediable thanks to my beautiful daughter Lyndi who turned 18 today.  She is always a light to brighten my way when things get tough and a joy to have around.

10/26/09.  Thanks to all those who braved the cold for the Halloween fun show.  I think we all had a ton of fun and ate way too much sugar!  The costumes were awesome, the horses were a bit "fresh", and the day was beautiful cool fall day.  What could be better?

10/8/09  Goodness I hadn't realized it has been so long since I have thanked all of the wonderful people in my life!  I must be the luckiest person in the world to have such a phenomial group of people working towards good things for people and horses.  I am thankful for those who are sticking with the program through the fall when many school time activities have taken over.  I am thankful for Heather for coming into our lives... she is a great help when we have had to lose Charlene to college.  I am thankful for all of those volunteer instructors who come for the kids week in and week out:  Melissa, Kim, Anna... and hopefully we will get Sally back after the baby is born.  And I am thankful for all of the volunteers who come to clean, groom, and enjoy part of their days here.

7/20/09  Thanks to all who helped out when my riblets were crushed by a kick in the back!  Good job to Charlene for her work with the Equi-Kids program over the summer.  And thanks to our board members and helpers at the horse shows for sharing your precious time with all of us the first 1/2 of the summer.

6/18  Thanks to Charlie Man, who turned 16 today.  He is a very good big brother who takes care of Sydni so I can be out at the barn.  Happy B-Day Mr. Man.

5/9/09  HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!   Way to go Maria C. for raising money for 4 bags of feed and some bedding!  Maria worked very hard to make and sell pieces of jewelry to raise money for the barn.  Congrads to Brandy for having breakthroughs with her nerves to ride Magic bareback.  And thanks mucho to Heather, Brenda, Shay, and Bobby Jo for doing a great job with he barn during the past few weeks.

4/25/27  Thanks to all who went to Rolex:  Erin, Charlene, Carmen, Josh, Haley, Zach, Melissa and Gary.  We had a great time and got very burned in some cases!  What a gorgeous day...

4/12/09  Good Job to Charlene and friends for taking charge of the barn while I was away at the Home for Horses conference in Vegas.  I learned a ton - we have a lot of good things coming this summer so hold onto your riding caps!  The barn was fine.  Peg is quarantined upstairs until she has her kittens - so don't worry if you don't see her.  "Boots" it turns out is a girl.  She had her kittens while I was gone and the girls were not able to find them.  She will be getting fixed this week!

4/4/09  Wonderful job Kim with the scout group last weekend.  I think they enjoyed it very much and learned alot in the process!  Also, mucho thanks to Haley and Erin  for co-assisting!  Great job all... :)

3/30/09 Whew... thank goodness the longest weekend of the year is over!  The Pet Expo is a wonderful thing, we get many many new volunteers and donations, but it is a long/tiring weekend for all.  Thank you to Charlene and her friend Lauren who go up early and stayed all day on Friday.  Thank you to Brenda and Erin for spending their weekend either at the barn or at the Duke Center.  Thanks to the other kids who pitched in Mini, Rachael, and Kim's daughter and friend.  And Thanks to Marty, Mark, Kim, Jill, and David, Tracy & the girls and any others I may have missed for sharing their time as well!  Mucho, Mucho Thanks to the Tractor Supply in Williamstown, KY who brought the corral, mats, and donated the shavings!  They made weekend a million times easier.  Thanks to Pet Expo for having us once again.  It is an awesome effect if you like animals... if you haven't gone.... go next year!  And lastly ever-loving thanks to Rick who took care of Sydni this weekend while she was in the hospital with an upper respiratory infection (She's fine and home now.)

3/19/09  Happy Spring!  It's been a long cold winter, but we once again made it through.  This year with the barn totally closed down there were less freezing people here.  But those who did brave the cold, with special thanks to Brenda, Kelley, and Charlene, have my undying gratitude!  One nice change you will all notice is that the public restroom has been redone thanks to Marti's husband, Mark.  Things are pretty torn up from the winter.  I ran into the barn with the bobcat a couple of times hauling hay, we have trees down everywhere, and we started putting in an access road that was "rained out" before it could be completed.  No worries.  We have it ship shape in no time.  Welcome to two new boarders Jill (Boomer) and Dianne & Lauren (Leader), both great families we are looking forward to sharing quality time with in the warm weather.  Thanks to Rick for once again picking up the slack when my back decided to go out and taking care of the world.  Welcome back everyone!

11/17  HOLY MOLEY!!!  Thank to the Students at RAYMOND WALTERS COLLEGE.  They raised $1439.57 for the rescue program over the past year.  We are going to use the funds for spring foal rescue.  That will buy quite a few babies away from slaughter and pay for their milk!  You guys are awesome!!!!! KUDOS to ALL who participated!

11/3  Mucho Thank You's to the crew who took care of the barn while Rick and I went away for the weekend to New Orleans.  We had a wonderful time- thanks to Marty & Mark!!  And for once the weather was great here too...  Thanks to Melissa for taking care of things overall, Jax and AM for barn duties, Haley & Erin for helping with the scouts, and Tracy (better late than never!) for finishing the scout's badge requirements in my absence.  I'm sure there were others who "snuck in" to clean a stall or two.... you are sooooo much appreciated!

10/19  What a gorgeous weekend!  Thanks to everyone who came to Rick's grill out on Saturday.  Hope you had a wonderful time..  With your company, we certainly did  :)  And special thanks to Scott for spreading out all of the wood chips with the Bobcat - even though he didn't want to share his toy with any of the other boys!

10/11  An awesome job by the Katie's Kids foundation for the Katie's Kids walk!  They raised $5,000 towards the barn project.  The whole event went off without a hitch.  Brandy did a beautiful job of putting the event together.  Thanks to Larosa for the pizza ... and others who donated bananas, water, and cookies.  (The cookies were excellent!)  And thanks to Melissa, Jackie, Anne Marie, Brenda, Ashley, Iris, and Haley for helping out the the pony rides.  The kids at the park absolutely loved the ponies!

9/29  Thanks to the crew for the PetFest a River Downs on Saturday:  Haley, Melissa, Hope, Erin, Ashley, Maria, Kaia, and Kim.  We weren't able to raise a lot of money for the roof but we met some great people and had some fun!

9/13/08  We had such a good time at the Texas Holdem Tournament!  It was small, but I think everyone laughed a lot and enjoyed being with friends.  We also raised $450 for the barn!  Great job Jackie and Anne Marie!!!!!  And thank you to Romie (sp) and friend for letting us use the clubhouse.  It is a very nice location - nice new big clubhouse with a great kitchen area, huge TV, comfy chairs, and awesome fireplace.  Thank you all of our players for coming.... and especially John and Rick for donating their winnings back to the barn.

And thanks to Melissa who helped me brave the "wind storm from hell" while returning Atlas to his former home.  We were tossed about on the road and blocked several times from downed trees.  I locked us out of the car... good one.  We made it across Indiana where we were faced with a "corn husk" storm that made the sky look hazy.  Then through a gust of wind that literally lifted the trailer up off of its tire on the right side.  We finally made it to Beechmont and I was able to detract my fingernails from the steering wheel...  then upon our stopping for food (every exit we had tried before the electric was out) was so distressed by the storm that I drove through a drivethrough and took a chunk out of the trailer roof...... another good one.

9/9/08  Kudos to Julia for hosting a very nice end of the summer swim party.  Sydni loved being in the water even though her little chin was quivering after 30 seconds:)  Thanks to Tracy, Lynn, and Lisa for feeding last weekend.  And just wanted to make sure that all of you know how much you are appreciated.  Without your support and commitment our barn would not be possible.  Thanks to everyone who bought and/or sold tickets for the raffle.  Although we didn't make enough to "cover" the arena we made a dent!  :)

9/1/08  Thanks to everyone who purchased raffle tickets!  We raised a little money towards the roof.  We will bank it and keep trying.  :)  Thanks to Building Blocks Foundation for Kids for holding their annual WEBN fireworks fundraiser.  It was amazing to be on the boat with the WEBN broadcast front and center - and right under the fireworks.  I highly recommend it!  Thanks to Tracy for feeding that night so Melissa and I could go....

8/19/08 What a fantastic summer we've had!  Our lesson program is up in full swing with four different instructors, we've had two fun shows, shown at a few shows, made more and more progress on our building - Thanks Rob! (and Phil for putting in the electric boxes), and have such a wonderful group of people here - it makes me smile just to think of our "barn family".  To top it off I was blessed to be able to visit Assategue Island with Melissa and her family last week.  Assateague is on of the islands on the east coast that has wild ponies on it.  The childern's story Misty was written about about a pony from the neighboring island.  It was extremely cool to have the ponies right in the camp ground and walking on the beach with us.  A special thanks to Thomas W. and his crew for the Eagle Scout Project they finished in August of building the structure for our new hay barn.  We will be able to store around 1,000 bales of hay this winter thanks to their group!

7/10 Even though we all are bummed that the Extreme Home Makeover crew didn't pick our location, we should still very grateful.  Grateful that even though it is going to take us two more years to get our little "horse park" finished... IT WILL BE DONE!  I am grateful for the barn family that keeps me motivated to keep moving forward.  And as Melissa reminded me, "there is something to be said from doing it all with your own hands".  Yes- we will all  appreciate it a lot more.  Though we'll be a little more tired!  PS thanks to those who pitched in and helped Rick while I was in "Hell".

6/23/08.  Hi all!  Just sitting here on the sofa at 10:30 at night on the sofa thinking how lucky to have all of you in my life.  In the past couple of weeks I've managed to herniate two discs in my neck, be trapped in bed for a week, and then get kicked in the knee.  Is someone trying to tell me something?  Even though we had to push back fun show until last weekend, it was awesome!  I hope eveyone had a great time.  Some people I want to mention quickly:  Melissa for doing a great job of judging, Tracy for playing "barn mom" and helping get everyone saddled up and ready, Robin for helping with Syd and the food booth, Minni/Ashley/Nick/Anne Marie/Jackie/Nichole/Bev/Haley/Zoe for helping to set up and being the jump crew.  Hayley and Hope for doing a great job with the jump poles.  Melissa and Hayley for making the new brush boxes.  Sue Liggett for building a really cool brush box an refurbishing the brick wall.  Rob for finishing the front of the barn and getting the door on before the show.  And my wonderful husband Rick for cooking lunch for everyone.  Results for the show will be on the Fun Show page later this week.... I need everyones pics!

Also, special thanks to Melissa, Hope, and Minni for traveling over to Perfect North Slopes for the Child Wellness Fair.  We took one baby and Shy for pony rides.  Shy was a champ at the firefighters relay race on Hope and Minnie's team.  While their time was not great they did it with style!

6/15/08.  Once again I have miserably forgotten to thank everyone who is so essential to our operations in the last eight weeks.  First thank you for all who participated at the Pet show.  It was a huge success.  We raised about $1500 in milk money.  They were long days, but we also adopted out 2 babies from this show.  And Kudos to Nick and Maria who attracted many people into the corral to visit the babies (Barkers Supreme!)

Second, thanks to Melissa, Haley, Laurie, Vicky, Ashley, Minnie, Maria, and Nick (and everyone else who participated) for taking over at the Meijer Kids fest when I could no longer function due to the 2 herniated discs in my neck.

Third thanks to Rick and the whole crew for taking over my responsibilites for entire week!  I wish I could say I was in bed eating bon-bons, but no such luck!  On the good side I did get 90% of the new barn accounting software written.  Silver lining?

Fouth, Check out the new front of the BARN!  Rob Montag did an excellent job replacing the front of the barn so that it matches the new section.  But we love the whole Montag family too - as they make the barn a much cleaner, more organized, and generally happy place to be.

Fifth,  Thanks much to Brenda who is consistantly working with the babies to gentle and teach them to halter and lead.  This makes life so much more pleasant for them and their new families.

AND Congradulations to Melissa - who despite my non-encouragement- adopted the pick of the litter Kennedy.  Guess we will get to see at least one of our babies grow up.  :)

4/19/08  What a huge week!  Last week we went to Equine Affair as a group.  Marilyn, Becky, Melissa had a great time and spent WAY too much money on horsey stuff.  But thanks girls, it was a great time!  Then we had Everything Pets at the convention center on Fri, Sat, and Sun.  The TROOPER AWARD goes to Nick, Maria, and Marilyn who were there almost the entire time.  Brenda saved our hungery tummy's on Thursday with Cheese-its,  Melissa, Haley, Charlene, Deb, Laurie, Tracy, and Annie all helped out in shifts over the weekend.  While Lynn and Hope (and Rick) were home taking care of the barn.  We raised almost $1,600 between adopting out two foals and the "Milk Money" jug.   And... we spent it on 4/19 by having 12 trees taken down, paying for milk money, and rock for the arena.  I wish I could say "easy come easy go"... but it wasn't easy!  Buckets of Kudos to everyone!!!!!!

We also want to say "Thank you" and "We'll Miss you" to Cindy, Hanannah, and Champ.  We moved him to the west side of Cincinnati on Thursday.  It is much closer to where they live.  They have been here for 2 1/2 years.  They were our first boarders and their board helped to support the barn in those really tough times.  You'll always have a home here if you need it.....:)

4/7/08  Kudos to Marty F for suppling us with horse forage seed for the two back paddocks.  That stuff is expensive!

3/27/08  I am getting remiss on my Thanks lately!  And we have a ton of people to be thankful for.  Melissa - as always - for teaching lessons, but also for holding down the fort while Rick and I escaped the "Blizzard of 2008" to visit family, friends, and Woody in Florida for a weekend.  And we have a wonderful new family Lynn, Hope, and Rob who have adopted Monty.  Rob has been working tirelessly (though he probably is very tired!) to get the old part of the barn rehabbed - And it looks Fabulous!!!!  And a big thank you to the Board who got together on a Friday night and worked their fingers to the bone creating cards to sell at All About Pets (ok we drank too....)  But special thanks to Marty for hosting and Mark for putting up with us.  :)  Thank you to the State of Ohio for approving us for a grant for a skid steer - this is going to make life much easier and we'll be able to get a ton done on the trails and arenas.

2/15/08  Thank you to a wonderful friend and boardmember who donated the items for the Sweet Heart Auction- Becky.  Can't wait until it is warmer so we can see your smiling face more often!

1/16/08  Thank goodness help has arrived for the closing of the house.  It will finally completely belong to us on Monday.  Thanks to the intervention of our Clermont County Health Commissioner Marty Lambert.  Inspection after inspection with no results.  We have been wading through the red-tape for weeks and she was able to help us through the final step.   Whew.....

1/5/08  When hay is short help arrives!  Thanks for the donations from The Brennan Equine Wellfare Fund (Thanks Linda!), Total Quality Logistics, and the Mr. and Mr. Fink.  Your donations have allowed us to purchase a semi-load of hay for not only our rescues, but other starving horses in the area as well.  Total Quality Logistics is coming for a visit on the 26th.  We look forward to your visit.

1/1/08  2007 was another year of growing pains, good friends, and major improvements.  We found homes for 40 foals, 13 race horses, and 3 abuse cases.  (There are 3 race horses “waiting in the wings” to come here when we get space).  Thanks to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation donation of $19,500 we have added 6 stalls to our barn.  We have added a water spigot in the barn, automatic waterers, blanket holders, a feed room, and wash stall to our barn.  Three new sets of outside cross ties are now available near the tack “dungeon”.  We have built a hay barn stocked it with 500 bales of hay.  There are also two new paddocks and a small pasture area.

One reason we are able to accomplish this much is our boarders.  Hannah Capannari – Champ, John O’Toole – Magic, Marti Fraley – Trippy, Tracy Crabtree – Jackson.  The funds from these horses pays for their horse as well as covering other horse expenses.  And many thanks to Charlene Halkiu – Posedion and Jessica Seibert – Benson who work daily to oversee evening feedings, watering, and stall care.

A total of 64 new volunteers have come on board this year.  Not everyone has stayed, but I hope they enjoyed their stay with us.  I had made a wish back in July that we would only have good and happy people at our barn.  I guess you get what you wish for! We currently have a tremendous crew of good-hearted and hard working volunteers keeping this rescue operation up and running daily.

Our board members are Mary Fraley, Becky Martin, Tracy Crabtree, Annie McKinny, Melisa Medrick, Brenda Paulsomb, and Marilyn Huffman.  These women are the heart and soul of the barn - and wonderful friends to boot!

Some things you can look forward to in 2008:  Addition of 100x200 outdoor arena, permanent 80’ round pen, addition of 2 ½ acre pasture area, tack room in the barn, a road to the barn, and FINALLY the cover over the current arena.  (And… everyone think positive thoughts about getting the 10 acres adjoining us as pasture area this coming year)  One more year of building and we will be all about maintenance!

Rick and I would like to thank all of you who let us “escape” a total of 3 times this year!  Wow, we hadn’t been away in 8 years and here we are with 15 total days away.  It was amazing to have some time off.  We both needed it!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Our goals for 2008 include.  Placing 50 foals in homes, hopefully the majority of them will go straight to their new homes.  Retraining and finding homes for 15 race horses.  Having space for at least 5 abuse cases and finding them homes.  Providing 10 scouting groups programs for badges.  Welcoming/training 50 new volunteers.  Educating 5,000 children and adults on the plight of nurse mare foals and race horses through festivals.  And making many, many horse crazy people very happy!

12/30/07 Thank you for all of the donations from:  Cathy Z., Mr and Mrs Fetters, and Mr Woodwiss.  We can REALLY use it for a varity of the building projects, bedding, and much needed hay to get through the season.

12/8  Kudos for Melissa for all lessons she teaches, horses she is training, getting us into the Amelia Christmas Parade and being a good friend to the barn!  And Congrads at being elected the new Vice President of the Advisory Board...

12/8  Happy Happy JOY JOY to the LaMacchia Family Foundation.  We had overrun our barn budget by a few thousand dollars (not suprising...) and their donation towards operations with help significatantly.  The money will be used to remove a tree overhanging the new barn, purchase two more stall doors, and stall mats.

12/7  Everyone can give Leo a pat on the head for "decorating" the new concrete barn floor with has paw prints!  So nice of him!.

12/6  Gracias to all of the constuction guys working on the new barn.  If you see them during the week... thank them... they are doing a
fabulous job under really stinky conditions... snow, rain, ice.

11/29  Thanks tp Lauren, who is our new intern for the next few weeks.  Lauren will be gaining college credit for her work here on Tues/Thurs/Sat until January.

11/27 Yes! the new part of the barn is being built by East Side Restorations.  Go Mark!  This will allow ALL of the horses to be inside this year...

11/25  Thanks to everyone (Tracy, Marilyn, Brenda, Laurie, Megan, and other helpers) who took care of the barn while Rick, Sydni and I went to visit family in KS for Turkey Day.  Thank you Cindy for picking up bedding!  The barn looked great when we returned.

10/31  Thanks to Marilyn, Tracy, Phil, Megan, Zoe, Haley, and Morgan for helping out with the Halloween delivery/trick-or-treating venture on Halloween.  I think we all had a blast.  They kids got a ton of candy.  And the neighbors just loved "Eore".  What should be dress Shy as next year?  Maybe we'll have a contest in September??

10/24  Rick and I both want to thank Annie, Charlene, Jessica, Brenda, Tracy, Marilyn, and everyone else who took care of "the ranch" while we were away.  This was the first real vacation we have had in nine years - and it was awsome.  But I can't say we were looking forward to coming off of a white sand beach in the warm sun and crystal blue water in the Bahamas to come back to rainy-cold Cincy!

10/23 EXCITING NEWS!  Beechmont Stables' and Rescue's Equi-Kids program has been awarded a grant for $19,500 to rehab and build 6 more stalls on the existing barn.  This will enable the barn to have more room for our rescue horses.  Most important for the foals in the spring they will not have to live in the garage!  Thank you beyond words goes out to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation!!!

10/5  Thanks to Brenda for the extra hose and manure fork - after one of the good ones broke!

10/3  Welcome and thanks in advance to Ginny.  Ginny makes beads and jewerly and is interested in donating part of the proceeds to the Equi-Kids program.  I'm sure I know several girls that may be interested in helping!  Will post a Ginny page before x-mas for people who might want to purchase.

10/3  Thanks mucho to the IHM Pack 694 Cub Scouts for their donation!

9/30  Awesome job by Jennifer's cub scout group painting paddock #5.  (Though the kids were off to the trails, pond, and playing with Leo after a short while... the parents did an excellent job of finishing up!)

9/20  Much thank you to Megan's Rick for the donation.  We used it to pay for the siding on the new hay barn.  Now we are able to store more hay - and buy in larger quantites at low prices.  That is so important when feeding so many horses...

9/12  Way to go Brenda for the Hay Wagon.  Everyone LOVES it.  The kids a bit too much sometimes.  I'm afraid someone is going to end up in the pond at this rate.  But it works fabulously.

9/7  Kudos to all of the people who pitched in while delivering Woody to Florida.  It was a long drive, but a nice change a pace!  Much thanks to Rick, who supports our rescue efforts in many ways, for going the extra mile and taking care of everything at home as well.  Love you honey!!!  He's a keeper....

8/18  Go Mark, Go Mark, Go Mark!!!!  Even though he hurt his back he put up an awsome job putting up the hay barn frame he finished it.  The barn is 16x20 and about 12 feet tall.  It was no easy task.  No one else came to help him with this project so he shouldered every bit of the work and got it done!  By the way he is a fabulous contractor/builder if you need anything done/built he's your man!  Call me and I'll pass along his number.

8/7  Sometimes we get a donation that is extra special.  Cassidy Deimling's was one of them this month.  She donated her $100 of her allowence she had been saving.  These donations are such a help ... you have no idea!  :)

7/7/07... Wow this was definately a lucky day for Beechmont Stables!  We had the most awesome group of kids come from Mt. Carmel Christian Church to mix and lay the last two stalls with concrete.  It didn't help that it was 99 degrees that day!  The kids cleaned the trails, dragged the arena with the 4-wheeler, stripped and cleaned the whole barn, and mixed and poured concrete in the last two stalls.  Thank you to Emily C., Samantha C., Aaron S, Anna S, Blake D, Jacob F, Rick K, Jessica S, Joshua K, Danielle F, Taylor D, Nick K, Megan A, Jeffery B, Kristina K, Jenifer K, Mason S, Anthony T, Chloe D, Emily S, Aly R, Erin R, Jesse G, Rebekah G, Justin R, Mindy H, Faith P, Emily P, Amber C, and Scott K.  And many, many thanks to the Bacon family for their continued support and bringing this wonderful group to us.  Fabulous Job Kids!

7/15  Always thanks to Tracy Crabtree - who is like part of the family!  She comes over several times a week to help out with whatever needs to be done.  Lately she (and Hannah) have been working with Jack - and is doing are great job.

7/12 Thanks to Hannah for using her "Giving Money" to purchase bags of bedding for the barn.

7/10 Thanks to Lori for donating this round of wormers to the barn.... and thanks to Cindy for Donating the last batch!

7/8  Thanks to Cindy, Hannah, Breanna, Jayme, Brenda, Lori and everyone else who helped with the garage sale.

6/25 Mucho, Mucho thanks to all that helped out during the week Sydni was in the hospital.

6/20   Thanks to Wanda, Brooklyn, Madison, and Haley, Lori, Marti, Charlene, Jayme, Lyndi, and Charlie, Breanna, Megan and Zoey for all the help with the Meijer Kids fest and Pony rides at the Child Wellness Fair.  Please let me know if I've skipped you so I can add you.  We had so many people coming and going to these events... it was a blast!

5/8/07  Watch for the new babies named "Stevie" and "Nemo" this week.  The "The Equestrian Club" in Hamilton County raised $227 to help save a baby this spring.  Thanks to Sherry and her daughter Serenity for delivering the funds.  The group decided on the name "Stevie" for the foal they rescue.  And special thanks to a VERY special little girl name Miranda who is part of this group but donated $25 she had saved and another $75 of her birthday money.  Miranda is naming her foal "Nemo".  If Nemo is half as special as Miranda he'll be the first baby to be adopted!

5/6/07  Thanks to Haley's "boredom" (and too much sugar I think!) this weekend, every remaining piece of tack was moved to the new tack room, the garage was swept clean of the remaining foal traces from the winter, and the feed room was cleared out and set up.  Whew that makes me tired just typing it all!  With helper, Morgan, they also wiped down most of the tack and applied oil where needed.  Wow!  This was an amazing effort!

5/5/07  Kudos again to Bev with PetPals for allowing us the privilege to do the Sat morning segment on Channel 9 WCPO.   Brenda & Lori helped but did not make it in front of the camera - they were there as the "clean-up crew", but luckily did not have to perform any duties except backing up the kids.  Lydni, Breanna, and Mariah were are stars on camera holding "Doc" who we took with us.   Three babies were adopted today from the segment - a huge success!

5/5/07 Have to pass out more Kudos than I can possibly manufacture in an entire year!  First to Paige Bosco for the fabulous job she did putting together the fundraiser at GameWorks on the Levee.  Second to the many many volunteers who put in extra hours holding down the fort (Charlene, Haley, Morgan, Brenda, Lori to name just a few) and bringing the most gorgeous silent auction baskets I have ever seen (Kim Bosco, Patti Brown, Lori Revis, and Pat Herman though I know there are more I'm not thinking of at this moment and I will get you on this list!)  Also thanks to Meijer, Vicky Taber, the Cincinnati Zoo, Q102, Starbucks, ... have to finish this list after I get a final list from Paige.

5/6/07  Thanks to Tony Semona for helping to rebuild the jumps and bringing us all of the wood from his neighbor, Barry Wright with Done Wright Construction.  With this wood we are hoping to build a 40x16 building to hold 500 bales of hay and help keep down the cost of hay by buying in bulk in the summer time.

4/10/07  Thanks to Channel 9 WCPO who did a PetPals story on the foals.  We took Bambi, a one week old pony filly, to the studio.  Charlene and Lori were a great help.  Bev C. did a fabulous job of making things as easy as possible.  We will be taking another baby to the studio on Derby Day, May 5th, which will air between 8:15 to 8:45am.

4/10/07  Kudos to the Dressage Company who donated $350 to the foal rescue effort.  We used the funds to purchase mats, bedding and food for the little ones.  Peggy H. also adopted one of our little ones.  Though he is a draft cross so little is probably not a great description!

4/9/07  Thanks to Brenda for the 4 pink and blue baby halters, bags of concrete, and her wonderful work with the foals.  We call Brenda the "Foal Whisperer" because of her ability to get a new baby to eat.

4/6/07  Thanks to Jessica L. for the cute little baby blankets she has made, her donation of her tax return, and all the the poop scooping she does on  a regular basis!

Catherine Z's monthly $20 donation which we use to purchase feed and bedding.  Many times of the past few months I have been thankful for this extra $20 to feed that one extra mouth that appeared due to neglect or injury.

Jane's $250 donation which purchased a baby from slaughter.  I don't have the pleasure of knowing Jane, this donation came out of the blue... but it saved a life... thank you.

Michaela's (she's 10 years old) fundraiser that raised $140.  Michaela is the daughter of one of my dearest friends who relocated to Florida two years ago.  She was able to raise these funds through several sources including, The Thinking Center, Cheval Centrex, and her neighbors.  We will use this money to purchase a foal from slaughter.

Thank you to our 50+ volunteers who come out daily to clean stalls, water, feed, paint fences, graze horses, groom horses and the hundreds of other things that need to be done to run a horse farm.  As a friend one told me "It take a village to raise a child".  None of this would be possible without all of your support.

Patti, Lindsay, and Tom Brown's bake sale fundraiser at Tractor Supply.  They raised a total of $281.22.  We were able to purchase a baby from slaughter and buy most of a bag of milk.    And thanks to all of the volunteers who helped:  Brenda, Morgan & Sue, Hannah & Cindy, Jessie and Mom, Lindsay and Grandma, Barb & Family, and Annette.

A big Thank You to Barb C. who adopted TWO babies.  She has also helped us purchase wood for fencing, many many bags of feed and bedding, rent a bobcat, get a new trailer when our old one failed us, and dozens of other things that we have desperately needed to make our operation run smoothly.

Thank you -Thank you to Lori R. who has been teaching lessons, doctoring horses, feeding, cleaning and basically putting on her jack of all trades hat.  Luckily Lori has tons of horse showing and teaching experience.  And.. time on her hands.

Thank you to my "second daughter" - Annie who got me through this past year.  Annie has been my right and left hand.  When I was busy taking Sydni to the hospital or sick, Annie was there to make sure things got done.

And finally Thank You to my loving husband Rick, who, without none of this would be possible.  Rick not only financially supports the majority to the operation but also lends a hand most every day.  I think I'll keep him!
